bridge of sighs

the wind was on my side as i slowly worked my way up the steep grade. the sun fading into the horizon backlit the end. when i reached the summit my breaths were swift and shallow as sweat beaded on my brow. i was high above the tree line now, gazing out across the city i now call home.

the last of the concrete has been poured…now there is only a sidewalk left until the east and west trails are connected. and as the wind chills my core i roll down the bridge like an avalanche.
