it’s back! meet up (4.26.13) at one of our awesome local breweries around 11 (also known as la cumbre), fill some growlers, then head out around midnight on a short ride to the bosque. feel free to invite others you think may be interested.
…the night air is coming. the orange glow of sunset slowly fades above us, as we trackstand in wait. 1/4 mile ahead lie two flashing red lights on opposite sides of commercial st. we can hardly wait to get to those blinkies…yet none of us will enjoy the road ahead. we want the destination…fuck the trip.

rings and cogs gnash their teeth as torque is applied. the sound of an underlubricated chain and the wind are all i hear while pushing and pulling simultaneously on the bike strapped between my legs. my heart pumps like an overdose of blue sky…each breath feels one step closer towards sucking fire into my lungs.
halfway up the road, i’m passed on the left, then the right. i maintain my pace (it’s all i have to give), past the cheering spectators, and over the finish. ¡oh shit, speedbump!

maybe he wrenched on your bike @ fixed and free a few years back, maybe you saw him doing insane bike tricks that seemed to defy the laws of physics, you probably saw him at low spirits in the band jenny invert…or grand canyon, or maybe you lusted after one of his hot ex-girlfriends….
anyhow, sam just gave us another reason to be envious…he’s the newest member of up and coming seattle band, ravenna woods. it’s about time one of my friends made good. no, the rest of you haven’t…yet.
the junkado parade is tomorrow! things kick off @ 11am at silver and yale. the parade rolls down silver to tulane st.

the enchanted circle century is one of the most beautiful and challenging rides in new mexico. until receiving this year’s registration form, it was also one of the most affordable centuries to ride.
so what the f… red river? last year the price went up…’due to the increase in the usa cycling insurance we raised the registration fee $5.’ that seemed reasonable…2012 cost, $35. this year’s cost $75(?!)…more than twice the price. either usa cycling are a bunch of greedy fucks…or the red river c.o.c. is.
last year’s results showed that there were 366 registered riders. i’m positive that raising the rates will surely attract more cyclists…not.
so, red river, instead of impatiently awaiting my visit to your overpriced town this fall, i’ll be spending my money elsewhere.

saturday, may 18th, 7pm, 2013. that’s when it happens…a 13 mile out and back time trial on the north diversion trail.
imagine, 13 miles of bicycle interstate to scorch. try your luck @ the longest, flattest, least car crossingest sidewalk in the world…or at least burque. there will be categories for fixed/ss and geared bikes…no excuses.

this past friday, members of afd rescued an injured cyclist in the foothills. word is the dude ruptured his spleen and cut his head. remember that the mountains bite…ride accordingly.
